CLIMBING KAZBEK

This particular tour is comfortable. We will climb Kazbek without backpacks, our things will be carried by horses, and food will be prepared by a cook (also, there is an opportunity to choose a budget option of climbing Kazbek).

The difficulty of the ascent is not difficult, it is quite suitable for those who are climbing for the first time. In crampons we will pass only the last section up to the saddle (4900m), and from there, if necessary, with the help of rope insurance.

We will eat food cooked by the cook on a gas burner and have snacks during the day.

We will spend the night either in tents near the meteorological station (3650m) or in the building of the meteorological station (rooms for 6-10 people with two-storied beds).

Tour program

Meeting - Accommodation in Stepatsminda
+

On the first day, we will meet you at the Tbilisi airport. If it is more convenient for you from Kutaisi or Batumi (it is more profitable for groups from Ukraine to fly to Tbilisi), then we agree separately, you can also fly to Vladikavkaz (also negotiated separately).

After that, we drive towards Stepatsminda (stopping at a couple of interesting places along the way), which is located at the foot of Kazbek at an altitude of 1750m. There we will check into a cozy hotel or guesthouse.

In the evening, free time in Stepatsminda, which you can spend strolling and enjoying the amazing views of the mountains and of course the majestic Kazbek itself.

For those who need to rent equipment – replenishment of necessary equipment.

Climb to the weather station
+

In the early morning, we will drive off—road vehicles to the monastery of Tsminda Sameba, or, as it is called in another way, Trinity Church. This interesting monastery is located at an altitude of 2200m

We load our belongings onto the horses and start climbing Kazbek.

First, we will climb the Saberce pass (about 3000m), which offers a wonderful view of Kazbek and the Gergeti glacier flowing down from it

Then, we will cross the river and go out to a place called the green hotel, and then we will reach the weather station (3650m)

Overnight at the weather station

We will walk about 17km this day, and the height difference will be 1450m from Trinity Church or 2000m from Stepatsminda. About 8-9 hours with halts.

Adaptation exit to 4500 - Return
+

We will devote this day to adapting to altitude, perhaps visiting the Firn plateau at an altitude of about 4200-4500 m, then return to the weather station. We will devote about 4 hours to the adaptation walk on this day

By the way, not far from the weather station, high on a cliff, at an altitude of 4100m, there is a small and very inaccessible monastery named Betlemi, but it is possible to climb to it only by rope and preferably by professionals.

Returning to the weather station, we will fall asleep early, because the next day we have an early ascent, we will climb to the top of Kazbek.

Ascent to the top of Kazbek
+

Early ascent (at 1:30) and ascent to the top of Kazbek (light without backpacks). Then return back to the weather station. (about 12 hours)

First, we will go out again to the firn plateau (during this time we will have time to meet the most wonderful dawn), and from there we will climb the so-called Kazbek pass, from where we will go to the saddle of Kazbek. Naturally, along the way we will enjoy the most wonderful views and magically powerful energy of Kazbek

Having reached the saddle, we still have the last segment to the top, there is already a powerful energy here, but what awaits us at the top.... 🙂

And here we are at the top of Kazbek!

After enjoying what we get at the top, we will start the journey back to the weather station. Imbued with the most powerful energy and the most positive emotions, we will go back.

We'll spend the night at the weather station again

Reserve day
+

A reserve day in case of bad weather. On this day, after saying goodbye to the weather station, we will begin the descent back to Stepatsminda, visiting the Trinity Church again on the way. (If there is bad weather on the previous day, then climb Kazbek and descend to Siepatsminda)

We will stay overnight in a guesthouse in Stepatsminda

If everything is fine with the weather, perhaps, in addition to the descent, we will devote a spare day to interesting walks in the surrounding area, for example, to the waterfalls of Gveleti
